Presenting with Pizza - From Flight Deck to Senior Center - January 26 Join us on this monthly program where we have a local presenter speak about an interesting topic or history followed by a full pizza lunch. All presentations occur on a Monday once a month followed by lunch consisting of one piece of pizza, tossed salad, fruit and drink. The fee collected is put towards our presenter fees, while a suggested contributions of $3.50 towards lunch can be accepted on the day of the lunch. Mon - January 26: From Flight Deck to Senior Center - Join our very own Parma resident Gene Benson, in hearing about how airline flying is the safest form of public transportation. It rose to that status primarily through the study of human behavior to learn why people make errors. The lessons learned to prevent airplane mishaps can be applied to everyday life. Understanding more about why we make errors can help us to avoid many of the common causes of injury and other unfortunate occurrences. This informative and entertaining program is created especially for seniors. Retired professional pilot and error reduction specialist Gene Benson shows an overview of the lessons learned in aviation during his fifty-year flying career and how he applies them now to life as a senior citizen. (The program is light hearted with plenty of graphics and real-world examples in a PowerPoint presentation)Mon - February 23: Monroe County Sheriff Crime Victim Specialist - Join Mary DeLella, representing Zone C. Crime knows no boundaries. It affects the young, the old, the rich, and the poor, rendering all of us potential victims. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office recognizes the psychological, physical, and financial difficulties that crime victimization creates for victims and their families. If you are the victim of a crime, you are not alone. A Crime Victim Specialist is embedded in each one of the three substations. Often people who experience victimization are not prepared for the way it will impact their lives. MCSO Crime Victim Specialist are available to serve residents of Monroe County from the onset of victimization, by providing crisis intervention, support, assessment, information, and referrals in a manner that encourages a victim’s involvement and input.Mon - March 9: The Ground Truth - Join Dan Caster, Retired CIA officer as he provides an objective overview of current World Events during these chaotic times. Dan provides factual background information for context and an explanation for the deliberate actions the US Government has recently taken that is affecting America's standing throughout the world. This presentation is non partisan and is based on Mr. Caster's 22 years of experience serving his country, coupled with recent dialogues with colleagues currently serving. This is a 2 hour presentation.Mon - April 13: Travelogue of Holland - Join Christine Simons retired librarian and enjoy Springtime in the Netherlands. See the beautiful spring flowers and architecture of Amsterdam. We will take a trip to the world-famous Keukenhof Gardens outside of Amsterdam. Mon - May 18: Don Dwyer??** No eligible person shall be denied benefits or subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving any Federal, State, or County funding.
