Join Cornell Cooperative Extensions Nutrition Educator, Allyssa VanValkenburg, for monthly nutrition classes.  Lessons cover the unique needs of people ages 65 and over.  Topics will focus on important subjects like eating healthy on a budget, how nutrition affects bones and joints, heart health, and the importance of physical activity.
  • February 22: Cooking For Two- tips on how to meal prep and cook for a small household.
  • March 28: Focusing On Greens - we will discuss the benefits of green vegetables and have a cooking demonstration.
  • April 11: Healthy Eating When You Need To Budget - we will discuss how to save money when shopping for healthy food.
  • May 23: Spring Into Spring With Produce - learn how to make homemade salad dressings.
  • June 24: Come learn about plant based eating and sample a plant forward recipe!
  • July 25: Summertime is the time for barbecues, picnics, campfires and more.  We will cover food safety practices and sample a healthy recipe.
  • August 26:  Come play a fun game of nutrition jeopardy! We’ll also sample a summer seasonal recipe!
  • September 26:  Learn about the nutritional highlights of tomatoes and sample a seasonal tomato recipe!
  • October 17: Keep those bones strong!  During this lesson we will discuss how eating a well-balanced diet rich in calcium and vitamin D and getting plenty of physical activity are a couple ways to improve bone health.
  • November 7: The smell of fall is in the air! Especially when it comes to festive holiday foods.  During this lesson find tips and tricks to prepare delicious meals without all the added sugar and saturated fats.
  • December 5: Celebrate this holiday season. What you eat each day effects how you feel now and in the future. During this lesson learn what healthy food shifts are and how to include them in your routine.
