Recruitment is underway for our 2025 Summer Camp Team! Serving as a member of the department’s support team, the position works directly with Hilton-Parma’s youth and their families to provide a fun and safe camp experience.
The winning candidates will be attentive and energetic individuals who are excited to take the initiative to make Summer Camp the best it can be. In addition to camp counselors, we are looking to fill several leadership roles to complete our team!
Job Description: The position of Summer Camp Team Member (Counselor, Assistant Site Director, Site Director), under the direct supervision of the Recreation Leader, supervises youth participants registered in the Summer Camp program. The successful candidate will work directly with the public and assists with the implementation, maintenance and organization of the program.
Typical Work Activities: (All may not be performed. Other related activities may be performed although not listed.)
- Lead and supervise designated playground participants;
- Work with a site team to ensure proper ratios are consistently met;
- Collaborate to plan daily activities and games;
- Organize, set up, and clean up daily activities;
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of camp site and other occupied facilities;
- Maintain consistent, professional communication with colleagues, families, and the Recreation office;
- Properly report any concerns or injuries to supervisors and Camp Director;
- Regularly engage and play with camp participants;
- Lead, supervise, and evaluate team members (leadership positions only);
- Promote a fun and safe camp environment for all campers.
Candidates: The successful candidate may be appointed by the Parma Town Supervisor upon recommendation from the Director of Parks and Recreation.
Work Hours: Seasonal, late June through early August, an average of 35-38 hours per week (varies), regular hours Monday-Friday, anywhere between 7;00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. with flexible hours required as per scheduled.
