Recruitment is underway for a Recreation Department Senior Vehicle Driver and Program Assistant! Serving as a member of the department’s support team, the position works directly with the public, primarily the senior population, serving as a senior program vehicle driver and senior program assistant as needed. The position is responsible for customer relations and providing extraordinary experiences to all.

Job Description: The position of Senior Vehicle Driver and Program Assistant, under the direct supervision of the Director of Parks and Recreation, Senior Recreation Supervisor, and full-time Recreation Department staff performs weekly participant transport via Town vehicle and program assistance. The successful candidate will work directly with the public and assists with the preparation and implementation of a community recreation program for the senior population primarily, and in some cases, all ages. 

Typical Work Activities: (All may not be performed. Other related activities may be performed although not listed.)
  • Transports program participants to and from the Senior Center using 12 passenger mini-bus (No CDL Required) as follows;
    • Tuesdays, 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. - 4:45 p.m.
    • Wednesdays as needed for shopping and monthly meals
    • Various days as needed for scheduled off-site outings or special events
  • Assists participants on and off vehicles;
  • Assists participants at programs and events;
  • Assists with the serving and clean-up of meals/activities;
  • Operates standard office equipment;
  • Answers participant questions and gives out information;
  • Greets participants, answers questions, obtains and gives out information, guides and directs visitors;
  • Works cooperatively with the Parks and Recreation Team;
  • Performs other tasks and jobs as requested.
Candidates: The successful candidate may be appointed by the Parma Town Supervisor upon recommendation from the Director of Parks and Recreation.                 
Work Hours: Part-Time, an average of 4-10 hours per week (varies), regular hours Tuesdays, 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. - 4:45 p.m. with flexible hours required as per scheduled recreation programs.
